News release

TOWNSHIP OF POTTON – October 10, 2018

Investments in cultural and creative spaces build strong and vibrant communities by providing gathering places where people can gather to enjoy the arts and culture.

On behalf of the Honourable Pablo Rodriguez, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Multiculturalism, the Honourable Denis Paradis, Member of Parliament (Brome–Missisquoi), today announced that the Municipality of the Township of Potton is receiving $210,000 to fund the reopening of the round barn in the Township of Potton.

The Government of Canada is providing funds to the Municipality of the Township of Potton through the Canada Cultural Spaces Fund (CCSF). This funding will allow for renovation of the barn’s foundations and its access bridge. Improvements will also be made to the roof and windows, the floor and the lighting system. In addition, reversing two doors will enhance security of the building.

“Mansonville’s round barn, located at the heart of the riding’s east most village, is a jewel of our heritage. It is one of the seven remaining seven round barns in the Eastern Townships.
