Bulletin: Improvements to the CAVCO Online application system
Gatineau, May 7, 2025
Enhancing service and efficiency
The Canadian Audio-Visual Certification Office (CAVCO) is launching a new version of its CAVCO Online application portal to improve client service. The updated portal will make it easier to submit a complete application by providing clear guidance combined with automatic prompts for missing information. These features will help reduce delays and make application processing more efficient.
What’s new?
- Centralized dashboard: A new dashboard provides a clear and organized interface for managing applications.
- Updated application questions: New questions have been added to ensure a complete application is submitted, reducing follow-up at later stages in the process.
- Smarter form validation: More smart form validations now identify missing information and documents in real-time, helping applicants complete their applications correctly. The system also allows users to cross reference to existing files instead of uploading duplicate documents.
- Improved application layout: Sections have been restructured to make it easier to enter information and navigate the application.
- Simplified file management: “Company Accounts” are now called “Shared Folders,” making it easier to store and access files. Users can now view and manage access permissions for shared files, enhancing security while improving collaboration and ease of use.
- Improved client communication: The new portal introduces a digest summary of messages, making it easier to track important updates and correspondence. In addition, new notes fields in every application section allow applicants to quickly respond to questions from CAVCO.
- Help tips: Help icons are available to guide applicants on how to answer specific questions throughout the application.
- Deadlines page: A new page (for applications under the Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit program) helps users track relevant deadlines and Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) waiver requirements.
Implementation date
The updated CAVCO Online portal will be available starting May 31, 2025. Over the coming months, CAVCO will make ongoing improvements to the system as needed.
Existing users
Existing login credentials will remain unchanged, allowing continued access with the same username and password.
For pre-existing applications already under review, the new system will automatically fill in answers for most new questions to ensure the progress of these applications is not delayed.
