Gatineau Park

Explore the natural wonders of Gatineau Park with qualified nature interpreters. Various free and curriculum-based programs take place in the Park, just 15 minutes from downtown Ottawa.

In beautiful Gatineau Park, there are five different educational activities for school groups.

Qualified nature interpreters will teach students about environmental conservation and the protection of natural heritage. During the activity, students will learn how their actions have an impact on the environment and about the importance of biodiversity.

Bring nature to your classroom with our two in-class initiatives:

  • “Gatineau Park Animals Tell It Like It Is”. This role-playing activity is led by a naturalist, and takes place in your classroom. It is offered in November to schools in Canada’s Capital Region.
  • “Investigation: A case of mistaken Identity”. Witnesses claim to have seen and heard wolves in Gatineau Park and the surrounding area. Were they wolves or coyotes? Or were they hybrids? Students will follow clues to find out the truth. They will also gain an understanding of the importance of helping to protect canids.

Programs have links to Ontario and Quebec curricula, including science and technology, physical education, language arts and social sciences.
