Competition Bureau seeking input from consumers to help guide its Broadband Market Study

Today, the Competition Bureau launched a consultation to learn about consumer habits in purchasing internet services. As part of its latest market study, the Bureau wants to better understand consumer habits and experiences with Canadian internet providers. To do that, the Bureau needs your help!

Fill out a short 2-minute online survey and be part of the conversation! Your feedback will help guide the Bureau’s work and ensure it is tackling the issues that matter most to Canadians.

Ultimately, the Bureau aims to find out if internet regulations could be smarter and more effective.

The Bureau has also published an update on the Broadband Market Study. This update provides insight on how the study has progressed to date, and how it will proceed in the coming months.

  • Market studies allow the Bureau to perform an in-depth examination of an industry and gain a better understanding of the competitive dynamics at play. Through market studies, the Bureau can identify competition issues and suggest potential solutions.

  • Consumer feedback is important because it helps detect certain trends in consumer behaviour, and allows the Bureau to focus in on what matters most to consumers.

  • In May 2018, the Bureau invited those with an interest in the Canadian broadband sector to share their views on its Broadband Market Study. The Bureau received a number of submissions, of which 16 are publicly available on the Bureau’s website.
