Why was the policy changed?

The purpose of the amendment is to provide for the monitoring and auditing, at the national level of hazardous occurrence investigations as defined in Part XV of the Canada Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.

What has changed?

A new requirement is established for all workplaces to report Hazardous Occurrence Investigation Reports (HOIR-LAB 1070) to the NHQ Occupational Health and Safety Program. Paragraph 31b in the Guidelines will be revised accordingly.

Effective April 1, 2014, the manager of the workplace is required to forward a copy of the completed HOIR-LAB 1070 to the NHQ Occupational Health and Safety Program by e-mail to Gen-OHS/SST@csc-scc.gc.ca.

How was it developed?

The policy was revised by the ACHRM in consultation with Strategic Policy.

Accountabilities/Who will be affected by this policy?

The Institutional Head or most senior manager of the workplace must ensure that this amendment is incorporated into existing reporting requirements.
