Commissioner's update for correctional employees: September 2 2025
This content is a message to Correctional Service Canada (CSC) staff from CSC's Commissioner.
Our mission: The Correctional Service of Canada, as part of the criminal justice system and respecting the rule of law, contributes to public safety by actively encouraging and assisting offenders to become law-abiding citizens, while exercising reasonable, safe, secure and humane control.
Our core values: Respect, fairness, professionalism, inclusiveness, and accountability.
I hope you had the opportunity to rest and enjoy the last long weekend of the summer. For many of you, this marks a return to routine with a new school year beginning.
For those of you who were working this past weekend, I want to thank you again for your dedication and service to maintaining our operations and keeping Canadians safe.

I know that many employees continue to face challenges, and we remain committed to listening, learning, and taking action. I will be sharing regular updates with you, just like this one, as part of our promise to keep the conversation going.
Thank you for your continued engagement and for being part of this journey.
New host platform for CSC’s Stakeholder Collaboration Hub
Since 2020, CSC’s Stakeholder Collaboration Hub has been a virtual space offering a secure and user-friendly environment for external stakeholders to collaborate with CSC and amongst themselves on various subjects. Recently, CSC has moved to the GCcollab space.
If you have a committee, working group or other community stakeholder group that you believe would benefit from having a shared space to engage, please contact Community and Stakeholder Relations at NHQ for more information and assistance.
Launch of the Government of Canada Workplace Charitable Campaign
The National 2025 GCWCC is officially launching on Friday, September 26. CSC is kicking off its internal campaign early - starting on September 4.
Over the years, our employees have consistently demonstrated generosity through donations and volunteer efforts. A reminder that the campaign supports over 6,800 charities across Canada via its philanthropic partners.
You can also connect with your local GCWCC Ambassadors to learn more and get support with donating. Thank you in advance for your continued generosity.
New CSC Instagram account
I am happy to share that we have officially launched Correctional Service Canada’s Instagram account.
Our Instagram is another way we are highlighting the hard and important work you do on the front-line, in service for Canadians. On Instagram, you will hear directly from your colleagues, in their own words, as they share real experiences and personal perspectives.
We will be using engaging new formats like stories and reels to spotlight your work. I encourage you to follow us as we show Canadians who we are, what we do and why we are proud to do it.
A reminder that as public servants and employees of CSC, we must conduct ourselves in a professional manner when commenting on posts or interacting with others on social media.
I encourage you to read about our responsibilities when using personal social media accounts, as shared in the March 7 Gen-Communiqué. It outlines the considerations and questions we should ask ourselves when using personal social media. All employees are asked to read this new guidance document.
Prisons Inside / Out: Behind the Badge: Primary Workers
A new episode of our podcast, Prisons Inside / Out is now available. This episode marks the return of our popular Behind the Badge series, which shines a light on the vital work front-line staff do every day to change lives and protect Canadians.
In this latest episode, we hear from Ashley, a Primary Worker at Nova Institution for Women with over a decade of experience on the frontlines. Tune in to learn more about the crucial roles Primary Workers play in women’s corrections, including security, case management and supporting rehabilitation efforts.
I am honoured to work alongside committed and passionate individuals like yourselves. Thank you for everything you do at CSC.
