Commissioner's update for offenders and their families: October 14, 2025
This weekend, we celebrated Thanksgiving. I hope you had the opportunity to reflect on your accomplishments from the past year and express gratitude to those who support you in your progress. It is important to celebrate your successes and recognize your strength.
October 16 is International Conflict Resolution Day. This day promotes awareness of creative and peaceful ways to resolve conflict. We all have different opinions, goals, ideas, or beliefs, and sometimes this can cause conflict and tension.
You can help manage conflict by:
- remaining calm
- having open conversations
- not resorting to violence
- showing respect to others
Please speak up and seek help when situations feel unsafe. There are many people who can support you, like members of your case management team, Elders, chaplains, and volunteers.
Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings.
