Commissioner's update for offenders and their families: March 2, 2026

This content is a message to federal offenders and their families from Correctional Service Canada's (CSC's) Commissioner.

March is Pharmacy Appreciation Month, an opportunity to recognize the important role pharmacies play in keeping you healthy and supporting your overall well-being.

At CSC, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and pharmacy assistants are key members of the health care team. They work closely with your health care providers to ensure that every medication you take is safe, effective, appropriate for your needs, and available when you need it. If you have questions about your medication, possible side effects, or other pharmacy‑related topics, please reach out to your Health Services team.

March is also a time to recognize important cultural and social observances.

Irish Heritage Month provides an opportunity to acknowledge the history, culture, and contributions of people of Irish descent in Canada. For individuals in federal custody, it is a moment to reflect on cultural identity, heritage, and the diversity that exists within CSC institutions and Canadian communities.

March also includes International Women’s Day (March 8), which recognizes the achievements and contributions of women and highlights the importance of equality, dignity, and respect. Within the federal correctional system, this day is an opportunity to acknowledge the experiences of women and to reaffirm CSC’s commitment to fairness, inclusion, and safe, respectful environments for all.

I would also like to remind you that CSC is currently conducting an evaluation to determine which institutions, parole offices, and Community Correctional Centres are required to provide services in English, French, or in both official languages.

If you wish to review or update your language of choice as part of this exercise, I encourage you to communicate with your parole officer. The deadline to submit your update is June 30, 2026.

Appreciation is a wonderful thing. It makes what is excellent in others belong to us as well.
