Death of an inmate at Port-Cartier Institution

October 7, 2025 – Port-Cartier, Quebec – Correctional Service Canada

On October 5, 2025, Gabriel Marion, an inmate from Port-Cartier Institution, died while in our custody.

At the time of death, the inmate was 24 years old and had been serving a sentence of 5 years, 4 months and 14 days since December 16, 2021.

The inmate’s next of kin have been notified.

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) will review the circumstances. CSC policy requires that the police and the coroner be notified.
