Death of an inmate from Atlantic Institution

March 4, 2026 – Renous, New Brunswick – Correctional Service Canada

On March 2, 2026, Calvin Lewis, an inmate from Atlantic Institution, died while in our custody.

At the time of death, the inmate was 55 and had been serving a life sentence, since July 5, 2023.

The inmate’s next of kin have been notified.

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) will review the circumstances. CSC policy requires that the police and the coroner be notified.
