Employee Assistance Program at Correctional Service Canada
Correctional Service Canada offers all employees an Employee Assistance Program (EAP). This program is a voluntary and confidential support service. It helps employees and their eligible family members by:
- addressing concerns that affect their personal and work well-being
- providing professional, short-term, problem-solving services; and
- providing support in difficult and stressful situations
Some examples to utilize the EAP include:
- bereavement
- relationship difficulties
- depression
- conflict
- addiction
- financial/legal issues
- trauma
- stress
Accessing the Employee Assistance Program
There are 2 components of the EAP; an internal network and external network of supports and resources.
Internal referral agents
The core of the program is the internal EAP, which consists of a network of specially trained referral agents who provide confidential services for CSC employees.
Referral agents are peers who volunteer to help. They provide:
- information about the program
- information about available internal or external resources; and
- a listening ear and emotional support
These agents are at all sites, in every region across Canada. More information on how to contact a referral agent is available on the EAP referral agents page (internal resource only)
External resources
The EAP also includes external services that are accessible to:
- all CSC employees; and
- their eligible family members

CSC has joined many other departments across the Public Service and have partnered with TELUS Health as their external EAP service provider.
