Consultation on Strengthening Canada’s Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorist Financing Regime

Current status: Closed

Budget 2023 announced that, in keeping with the requirements of the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act (PCMLTFA), the federal government will launch a parliamentary review of the Act this year.

To support this review, the Government of Canada held a public consultation that examined ways to improve Canada’s Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorist Financing (AML/ATF) Regime, and provided Canadians with the opportunity to provide their input.

The consultation ran from June 6, 2023, to August 1, 2023. Thank you to everyone who participated.

Informed by these consultations, the government will bring forward further measures to fight money laundering and terrorist financing.
