3rd Canadian Division medals, awards and commendations - October 2024

October 15, 2024

Every quarter, the Western Sentinel recognizes 3rd Canadian Division members who have received medals, awards and commendations.

The following members were recognized by their units for actions that benefited their units, the Canadian Armed Forces and the Canadian people.

On July 17, Major Gordon Elliott received a Canadian Joint Operations Command Commendation.

While deployed to Kuwait from May to November 2022, Maj Elliott expertly served as a staff planner within Combined Joint Task Force Operation INHERENT RESOLVE as part of Canada’s mission against Daesh. In particular, he routinely co-chaired multinational planning sessions at the operational level, including the review of critical contingency plans.

Maj Elliott’s exceptional leadership and professionalism ensured that planning efforts were well executed. He safeguarded coalition preparedness for future political and military challenges, which enhanced coalition safety and brought great credit to Canada.
