Director of Staff, Strategic Joint Staff

Major-General Prévost is originally from St-Bruno-de-Montarville, QC. He enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces in August of 1990 and obtained his wings in 1993.

As a pilot, he has served at 3 Wing Bagotville with 439 Sqn and 425 Sqn. He had the privilege to command 3 Wing Operations Division in 2005-2008, 425 Sqn in 2008-2010. He also commanded 2 Wing and 3 Wing Bagotville from 2011 to 2013. His flight log book contains more than 2500 hours, most of which on the CF-18.

Overseas, he deployed on three occasions between 1999-2001 to Italy as part of Operations ECHO and ALLIED FORCE where he participated in several combat missions in the Balkans. He served in Kandahar in 2010-2011 as the Commander of Joint Task Force Afghanistan Air Wing. In 2018, he was appointed Director of the Coalition Air Operations Center in Doha, Qatar where he oversaw the planning and execution of all military air operations in the Middle East and Afghanistan.

He completed his staff duties in the Plans Division at NORAD Headquarters in Colorado-Springs, CO, and in Ottawa as Special Advisor to the Commander RCAF, as Director Plans Western Hemisphere at the Strategic Joint Staff, as Director-General Plans at the Canadian Joint Operations Command, as Director-General Operations at the Strategic Joint Staff and as Director of Operations, Foreign and Defence Policy Secretariat at the Privy Council Office.

He is a graduate of the Royal Military College of Canada in Kingston, the Canadian Forces Command and Staff Course, the Advanced Military Studies Program and the National Security Program at the Canadian Forces College of Toronto.

In August 2021 he was promoted to his current rank and appointed as the Director of Staff of the Strategic Joint Staff.
