CFIRP 2009 - Clarification Bulletin 10
Clarification on Real Estate Commission (REI)
Releasing Authority: Director of Compensation and Benefits - Administration - 13 Jul 09
Reference: CFIRP 2009
The following clarification is provided to the CFIRP 2009 Policy 8.2.14
Background
DCBA has received several requests where CF members elect to receive the REI within the 15 working day time limitation and subsequently sell their principal residence. These CF members then request authority to reimburse the REI in order to receive sale benefits on the same residence. Clarification was requested from TBS, who have confirmed that the TB Ministers approved reimbursement of REI with specific limitations. Once a member elects the REI, the election may not be rescinded in order to be reimbursed for costs associated with the sale of the principle residence.
Clarification
In order to provide clarification to CF members who elect REI, the following note is to be added to article 8.2.14:
REI, once elected, cannot be rescinded under any circumstances. Conversely, once the time limitation has expired there is no longer an entitlement to elect REI.
