Your questions answered: Sanitizing the workplace and mandatory COVID-19 awareness training
June 17, 2020 - Defence Stories

Below is some information addressing the most common questions we have recently received via Ask Anything: COVID-19, grouped by theme.
We remind you to contact your manager or chain of command first; they have the most accurate information that can address your question, keeping in mind the local public health situation and the specific circumstances of your workplace and operational requirements.
Visit the Resuming work FAQs and stay tuned for more information and updates in response to your questions.
Cleaning and sanitizing the workplace
The department adheres to the directives and guidance from the Public Health Agency of Canada, as well as national and provincial regulations and best practices, regarding the cleaning and sanitation of workplaces. In certain circumstances, such as a known respiratory infection outbreak or under the advice of the Senior Medical Authority, it may be necessary to increase the frequency of environmental cleaning to reduce and control the spread of microorganisms.
For more information, visit Cleaning and disinfecting public spaces during COVID-19.
Each L1 and Command in their Business Resumption Plan should be taking COVID-19 in the workplace seriously and only personnel who provide a critical service or must access secure networks are to be in the workplace. Personnel must be provided with non-medical masks prior to being in the workplace if physical distancing of at least 2 metres is not possible, and all public health measures shall be observed in accordance with the CDS/DM Directives.
Any member of staff who feels that their chain of command is not following prescribed procedures can contact the OHS Secretariat and we will follow up with the L1 or Command and ensure the public health measures are being followed.
Mandatory COVID-19 awareness training
Training on COVID-19 is mandatory for all staff and was created by the Canadian Forces Health Services Group. The course title is: COVID-19 Awareness / Sensibilisation à COVID-19 (MITE 122255). It is available on the Defence Learning Network (DLN):
- DWAN/DVPNI: http://dln-rad.mil.ca
- Off-network: https://dln-rad.forces.gc.ca/login
Supervisors should ensure that their personnel all receive the training before or immediately upon their return either at a DWAN computer or in a classroom. Members of staff who do not have access to the DLN through the DWAN while at home can log in to the DLN’s external site to take their training.
If you need to create a DLN account, reset your password or need to change your profile email address to a personal email address, please contact the DLN Helpdesk by email: DLN-RAD@FORCES.GC.CA. Note that response times might be longer than usual due to high demand.
