Do you have a high compensatory leave balance? This summer is a perfect time to use it!

Don’t forget: Similarly to vacation leave, compensatory leave balances are subject to automatic mandatory cash-outs in accordance to your collective agreement and terms and conditions of employment. First, confirm (accessible only on the National Defence network) if the leave cash-out applies to you. Next, check out the excess compensatory leave cash-out process (accessible only on the National Defence network). Remember that if you don’t use up your leave and you are in a cash-out situation, there may be tax implications (accessible only on the National Defence network).

Taking time off work is an important part of a healthy work life balance. It’s also important for your mental health. If you have a high compensatory leave balance, you are encouraged to speak with your manager to develop a leave plan and take some time to enjoy some much-deserved time off!
