Student hiring

Student hiring doesn’t end in the summer! Approximately 40% of our annual student hiring occurs in the fall and winter. The struggle for sustained employment continues to be very real for students all over Canada and, therefore, remains a call to action for the Public Service.

Let’s work together to meet our student hiring goals for this fiscal year! Now is the time to consider student hiring for fall and winter! Students are available to work part-time or full-time (if choosing a candidate from co-op), throughout the school year.  Don’t forget that, once students have graduated, they can be hired directly (student bridging) (accessible only on the National Defence network) to term and indeterminate positions – an excellent way to support workforce rejuvenation!

Tap into a variety of existing pools/inventories and find the right fit for your team. Check out the student sourcing options available to you:

  1. Federal Student Work Experience Program (FSWEP)
  2. Employment opportunities for students with disabilities (EOSD)
  3. Indigenous student employment opportunity (ISEO)
  4. Post-Secondary Co-operative Program (Co-op)/Internship Program Research Affiliate Program (RAP)
  5. Check out the new Business, Project Management and Government Programs graduate inventory that has candidates interested in fields such as planning, finance, grants and contributions, management, security, information management, human resources, and occupational health and safety.

If you would like to prioritize a position for students from an identified Employment Equity group, include this in your request.
