December 4, 2023 - Defence Stories

Step 1:

We encourage you to take the full-day in classroom Mental Fitness and Suicide Awareness (MFSA) Course, or the four-hour Suicide Awareness Training – Ask, Care, Escort (ACE) Model Workshop, if you have not already taken them. Health Promotion courses are available to all Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members. Where space and resources permit, civilian members of the Defence Team may also register. To register for MFSA or the ACE Model Workshop visit your local CFWMS Health Promotion Office website.

Step 2:

If you have already completed the ACE (Ask, Care, Escort) Model Training, congratulations! You are familiar with the steps of the ACE Model to approach someone who is in distress. To maintain this valuable knowledge, you will now have access to the new, one-hour, self-paced ACE Model Refresher Course available on the Defence Learning Network (DLN).

You may have noticed that the French name for the ACE Model Refresher Course has changed from “Recyclage sur le Modèle ACE” to “Révision du Modèle ACE”. You will find the course on the DLN by searching for the new name.

The ACE Model Refresher Course will allow you to review the steps of the ACE Model in the event that you need to use it.

It is recommended that you visit the DLN to take the refresher course once a year. CAF members will receive a MITE code on completion.

Reminder: Completion of either the Mental Fitness and Suicide Awareness Course, or the four-hour Suicide Awareness Training – Ask, Care, Escort (ACE) Model Workshop is mandatory prior to enrolling in the refresher course.

If you have further questions, please contact your local Health Promotion Office regarding the training available.
