Your hybrid work agreement might need to be updated - here’s what’s new.

Create or update your work agreement

Is your work agreement in the myWorkArrangements (MWA) application up to date?

All DND public service employees (indeterminate, students, term, casuals, etc.), must have an updated and valid work agreement (accessible only on the National Defence network) in line with the Direction on prescribed presence in the workplace.

You can submit or modify a work agreement by following the instructions on the following pages:

As work agreements are valid for one year and many were set to expire in September, please ensure that yours is updated.

Updates to terms and conditions

The DND Terms and conditions of telework and hybrid (accessible only on the National Defence network) have been updated to reflect changes made earlier this year to the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS)’s Directive on Telework. Please ensure that you have familiarized yourself with the latest information.

Updates to hybrid guidelines

The DND Guidelines for Hybrid Work provide direction and resources for L1s, managers, and employees to ensure that they have the accommodations, equipment, and information necessary for a meaningful and productive hybrid experience.

The guidelines were recently updated to ensure roles and responsibilities are clearly outlined.

Examples include:

New pre-approved exception

There is a new DND-specific hybrid exception category added to the Direction on prescribed presence in the workplace that provides L1s with a flexible option to attract and retain a temporary workforce.

The exception (accessible only on the National Defence network), under category 4g, is for the following employees:

This excludes part-time indeterminate employees and employees who are new or need in-person guidance.

Approval required for this type of exception is up to the L1/Assistant Deputy Minister (ADM) level.

The exceptions (accessible only on the National Defence network) webpage outlines details on how to submit this exception request.

Updates in the myWorkArrangements (MWA) application

Within the MWA application, changes have been made to reflect the updated Terms and Conditions. This will require all users, when submitting a new work arrangement, to select four new checkboxes under the Terms and Conditions.
