Dallaire Centre of Excellence for Peace and Security
Resident within the Canadian Defence Academy, the Dallaire Centre of Excellence for Peace and Security supports the enhancement of the CAF’s effectiveness, first by serving as an enduring platform for research and education on the prevention of the recruitment and use of child soldiers, and subsequently by expanding to focus on other human security topics relevant to Canadian Armed Forces operations, doctrine and training.

Mission
The Dallaire Centre of Excellence for Peace and Security provides expertise and capacity to inform the Canadian Armed Force’s operational requirements to address complex peace and security issues through research and professional-based analysis, expertise and best practices to contribute to policy and concept development, doctrine, military training and education, and related personnel-readiness enablers.
Vision
We are recognized for expertise in peace and security issues that increases the Canadian Armed Force’s individual, operational and institutional capabilities, and advances the Government of Canada’s objectives.
Functional roles
Research
- Develop and maintain the Canadian Armed Forces professional body of knowledge on peace and security topic areas
- Develop concepts in support of doctrine creation and modernization
Training and education support
- Support professional development and training needs analyses
- Support professional military education
- Catalogue courses delivered by partners and allies
- Maintain situational awareness on United Nations and North Atlantic Treaty Organisation training standards
Lessons learned and best practices
- Support doctrine development
- Support Canadian Armed Forces lessons learned processes
- Catalogue best practices and lessons learned
External engagement/liaison
- Host conferences
- Organize working groups/research groups with external subject matter experts
