Defence Investment Plan
The Defence Investment Plan outlines how the Royal Canadian Navy, the Canadian Army, the Royal Canadian Air Force, and the Canadian Special Operations Forces Command will be funded in the coming decades. It includes information about hundreds of projects and contracts for capital equipment, infrastructure investments, and services.
Defence Investment Plan 2018 includes an online, searchable tool—the Defence Capabilities Blueprint. With more and easier access to information, businesses will be able to make informed investments in research and development, and strategic partnership decisions based on the Canadian Armed Forces’ anticipated needs.
Federal procurement opportunities on Buyandsell.gc.ca
If you represent a company interested in a specific defence and security procurement opportunity, information can be obtained from, and bids submitted directly on Buyandsell.gc.ca. Buyandsell.gc.ca allows companies to register as a supplier and receive procurement notices, requests for information (RFIs) and identify you as an interested supplier for specific proposed procurement.
Additionally, information on Industry Day information sessions is also posted on Buyandsell.gc.ca for interested suppliers. The goal of these sessions is to help companies understand and access government procurement opportunities. International and Industry Programs at National Defence
International and Industry Programs, a division of the Materiel Group, serves as the primary interface for National Defence with the defence and security industry, both in Canada and abroad.

Office of Small and Medium Enterprises (OSME) regional offices
OSME has a network of six regional offices in Canada. They help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and encourage them to participate in the Government of Canada procurement process.

Regional development agencies
The regional development agencies are responsible for the Government of Canada regional and local economic development strategies, and the promotion of sustainable economic development and diversification. A particular focus is placed on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), including help to connect to foreign markets and opportunities with major original equipment manufacturers.

Controlled Goods Program
Many of the items that National Defence buys have military or national security significance and are therefore identified as controlled goods. Controlled goods are subject to strict controls in accordance with Canadian laws and regulations. Companies that want to examine, possess or transfer controlled goods must be registered with the Government of Canada Controlled Goods Program. Canadian Association of Defence and Security Industries (CADSI)
CADSI is a non-profit organization representing over 900 defence and security companies.
CADSI hosts “Industry Outlook” events, which are held annually in association with different branches of the Canadian Armed Forces and National Defence to provide companies with a forecast of requirements to assist their business planning development.
CADSI also hosts the CANSEC Defence and Security Trade Show, which is another opportunity for Canadian companies to showcase their capabilities, network and build partnerships. The National Defence force development and equipment management communities participate in CANSEC, as well as representatives of foreign governments and militaries. Aerospace Industries Association of Canada (AIAC)
