Today, the Honorable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Labour, issued the following statement regarding the collective bargaining negotiations between the Canadian National Railway Company and Teamsters Canada Rail Conference:

“I am pleased that the Canadian National Railway Company and Teamsters Canada Rail Conference have successfully reached tentative agreements, with no interruption in the transportation of goods across the country. These agreements were reached through negotiations between both parties with the assistance of mediators from our Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service. These tentative agreements must now be ratified by employees, and we will continue to monitor the situation closely. Our government believes in a fair and balanced approach to labour relations and we thank the parties for their commitment to the collective bargaining process.”
