Consultation regarding Mental Health (Psychological Health and Safety): Closed consultation

This consultation ran from November 26, 2020 to January 8, 2021.
The Honourable Filomena Tassi, Minister of Labour, has a mandate commitment to improve labour protections in the Canada Labour Code (Code) by:
- including mental health as a key component of occupational health and safety, and
- requiring federally regulated employers to take preventative steps to address workplace stress and injury
The Government of Canada consulted with interested parties to gather input on mental health (psychological health and safety) in the workplace. The input will inform policy proposals that are responsive to the diverse needs of federal jurisdiction workplaces.
Who was the focus of this consultation
We encouraged the following parties to provide their views and perspectives on mental health (psychological health and safety) in the workplace:
- workers
- unions
- employers
- employer organizations
- advocacy groups
- academics
- other experts, and
- all interested Canadians
What we heard
The input gathered through this consultation will form part of a "what we heard" report, which will be publicly available in the future.
