Transcript: Viewing the decision letter in the LMIA Online Portal
Let me show you how to find and view the decision letter for an LMIA application using the LMIA Online Portal.
Once Service Canada has completed the assessment of an LMIA application, the employer and third party contact (if applicable) will receive an email advising that a decision has been made. You might need to check your spam or junk folder for this email.
You will then have to log in to the LMIA Online Portal to view the letter.
If you need help logging in, watch our video titled "Logging into the LMIA Online Portal".
After logging in, you will arrive at the LMIA Online User Dashboard.
Select the employer file you wish to access. This will bring you to the Employer Dashboard.
Under "LMIA applications", you will see a list of all of your online LMIA applications. Find the LMIA number for the application you are looking for.
Under the "Actions" column, click on "Inbox". From the inbox, you can see all letters related to this application.
The decision letter will have one of the following names:
- LMIA confirmation
- LMIA refusal
Click the link to open and view the letter, which will advise whether your application was approved or denied by Service Canada.
You can follow these same steps to view any other letters or messages that Service Canada may send you about your online LMIA application.
If you are wondering how long it takes for Service Canada to make a decision, you can check the LMIA processing times by visiting this website.
This site has the latest information on average processing times, and will give you an idea of when you can expect to hear back about your application.
You can check the status of your LMIA application at any time, under the "Status" column of the Employer Dashboard.
If you have any questions, you can also contact the Employer Contact Centre at 1-800-367-5693. The centre is open Monday to Friday from 7 am to 8 pm Eastern time.
