Welcome letter to new Deputy Minister

September 30, 2019

Christine Hogan
Deputy Minister of Environment and Climate Change
200 Sacre-Coeur, Gatineau, QC

Dear Christine,

Welcome to Environment and Climate Change Canada!

We are delighted to have you here to provide leadership during a very interesting and busy period where environment and climate change issues are taking on ever greater prominence and importance, and where we as a department are preparing to brief the incoming government on the full range of these issues.

I am attaching in this package a short overview of the Environment and Climate Change portfolio, as well as Tables of Contents which have been prepared by each branch. Our intention is to provide binders to you in advance of each of your bilateral meetings with each branch head. If there are specific topics or documents that you would like to see at each of these meetings, our office will communicate these to the appropriate leads.

Your arrival during the time of transition is fortuitous, in that we are preparing products for whomever is our Minister after the coming election, and we will be holding a number of briefings with you in the coming weeks to go over these products and related advice. This will help you quickly get up to speed on the activities of the department and the key policy files that it is working to advance.

I look forward to working closely with you,

Dre. Martine Dubuc
Associate Deputy Minister
