The Sustainable Development Office at Environment and Climate Change Canada is launching a 120-day public consultation on the draft 2026-2029 Federal Sustainable Development Strategy (FSDS). This consultation provides stakeholders and the Canadian public with an opportunity to review the draft Strategy and offer feedback prior to its final tabling in Parliament.
The draft FSDS will also be submitted to the Minister’s Sustainable Development Advisory Council for input. Comments provided during this consultation will be analyzed using an AI-based tool to help summarize and interpret the feedback. Summary reports of collated and analyzed data will be prepared for internal use within the Directorate and shared with federal organizations that contributed to the FSDS, to support the development of the final 2026-2029 Strategy.
A consolidated summary of public input will be published as a “What We Heard” consultation report. This report will be featured in the final FSDS and made publicly available online.
