Canadian Centre for Climate Services

Backgrounder

The Canadian Center for Climate Services (CCCS) is an important part of the Pan-Canadian Framework on Clean Growth and Climate Change. The CCCS will be the official source of reliable climate information, data, and tools from the Government of Canada, and will provide training and user support to help increase climate resilience across Canada.

CCCS information and products will be made available through a new website, the Canadian Climate Information Portal, which is scheduled to launch in the fall of 2018.  Historical and future climate information will be made available along with many climate variables such as temperature, precipitation, snow cover, etc. to allow Canadians to better understand the possible futures and plan for them.

The Canadian Climate Information Portal and other services will be designed and continuously improved to meet the requirements of Canadians – whether they be community planners, transportation engineers, forest managers, farmers, or Indigenous communities.

To provide regionally relevant services across the country, the Government of Canada is collaborating with provinces and territories to identify and work in cooperation with regional climate organizations that will help Canadians adapt to the impacts of climate change.
