Share and view ideas: Offsetting Policy for Biodiversity

Beginning on December 16, 2022 and closing on February 17, 2023.
The purpose of this engagement is to give an opportunity for partners and stakeholders to provide comments on the Offsetting Policy for Biodiversity. This policy uses the mitigation hierarchy to achieve the goal of no net loss of biodiversity within Environment and Climate Change Canada’s mandate. The Offsetting Policy for Biodiversity will contribute to predictable, consistent, and coherent offsetting advice and better outcomes for biodiversity.

Partners and stakeholders are invited to participate in this engagement. We especially want to hear from:
- Indigenous peoples
- provincial and territorial governments
- industry associations
- environmental non-governmental organizations
- general public
Key guiding questions for your comments
We are seeking input on the Offsetting Policy on Biodiversity and invite you to focus on the following questions:
- how will this policy be helpful to your work
- what risk(s) do you see with the implementation of this policy
- is there anything that needs clarification or modification in the policy
- how might this policy relate to your rights and values
The input gathered during this process will be taken into account in the development of the final policy.
