Appendix C: Regional Workshop Reports

February 11 - 12, 2002

Days Inn, 30 Carlton Street
Toronto, Ontario

A total of 60 stakeholders attended the workshop, including 5 ENGO representatives. On the second day a total of 3 EC delegates were present to provide technical expertise during the breakout sessions.

The attendees were split up into four breakout groups that were evenly distributed in number and sector representation.

The locale, facilities and service for the workshop were adequate. They were conducive to the full participation of the attendees.

Interaction with the primary presenter and the ensuing discussions were lively with most attendees participating fully and frankly. No individual sector, industry, government, or ENGO, dominated the discussions.

February 18 - 19, 2002

Holiday Inn Select
Montreal, Quebec

A total of 28 stakeholders attended the workshop, including 1 ENGO representative. On the second day, a total of 3 Environment Canada delegates were present to provide technical expertise during the breakout sessions.

The locale, facilities and service for the workshop were adequate. They were conducive to the full participation of the attendees.

Interaction with the primary presenter and the ensuing discussions were lively with most attendees participating fully and frankly. No individual sector dominated the discussions.

The attendees were split up into three breakout groups; two were conducted in French and the third was conducted in English.

The presentations were made in both English and French. Simultaneous translation services were provided.

February 26 - 27, 2002

Holiday Inn Select - Halifax Centre
Halifax, Nova Scotia

A total of 19 stakeholders attended the workshop, including 2 ENGO representatives. On the second day, a total pf 3 Environment Canada delegates were present to provide technical expertise during the breakout sessions.

The locale, facilities and service for the workshop were adequate. They were conducive to the full participation of the attendees.

Interaction with the primary presenter and the ensuing discussions were lively with most attendees participating fully and frankly. No individual sector, industry, government, or NGO, dominated the discussions.

The agenda was adhered to for the most part. On the second day, the number of attendees present did not warrant continuing with breakout groups and the meetings were all held in plenary session.

February 4-5, 2002

Sheraton Cavalier Hotel
Calgary, Alberta

A total of 27 stakeholders attended the workshop, with no ENGO representatives present. 3 provincial Environment Ministry representatives were present. On the second day, a total of 3 EC delegates were present to provide technical expertise during the breakout sessions.

The locale, facilities and service for the workshop were excellent. They were conducive to the full participation of the attendees.

Interaction with the primary presenter and the ensuing discussions were lively with most attendees participating fully and frankly. No individual sector, industry, government, or ENGO, dominated the discussions.

February 6-7, 2002

Best Western Richmond Hotel and Convention Centre
Richmond, British Columbia

A total of 13 stakeholders attended the workshop, including 2 ENGO representatives. On the second day, 3 Environment Canada delegates were present to provide technical expertise during the discussion.

The locale, facilities and service for the workshop were suitable. They were conducive to the full participation of the attendees.

Interaction with the primary presenter and the ensuing discussions were lively with most attendees participating fully and frankly. No individual sector, industry, government, or ENGO, dominated the discussions.

Given the number of participants, all discussions were held in plenary sessions.
