Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES)

Note that international trade in wild specimens of Appendix I species for commercial purposes is prohibited. However, under certain conditions, specimens produced by captive breeding operations registered by CITES can be traded for commercial purposes.

Applications for registration of a captive breeding operation will be approved only if sufficient details are provided.

Registration is for captive breeding operations producing animals listed in Appendix I of CITES for commercial purposes.

If the establishment only produced first generation specimens for the species, provide documentation showing that the breeding methods used are the same or similar to those that have resulted in second generation offspring elsewhere.
