Design feature Recommendations
Location/shelter
  • Locate mixing and working solution tanks in an enclosed, heated area, particularly if sub-freezing temperatures are encountered during operation.
Spill prevention
  • Provide equipment to enable safe, controlled manipulation of ingredient drums and bags.
  • Provide equipment for transferring drum and bag contents with minimum worker contact and minimum spill potential.
Ventilation
  • Provide an efficient scrubbing system for the mix tank to minimize emissions.
  • If wet scrubbers are used, they should be designed for recycling and reuse of scrubber fluid.
Unloading drums or totes
  • Provide adequate equipment for safe, controlled handling of the containers.
