Online Reporting for Metal and Diamond Mines

A new version (March 2022) of the User Guide for the Mine Effluent Reporting System (MERS) is available. Click the link below to consult it.

The Metal and Diamond Mining Effluent Regulations include requirements to notify, submit and report regulatory information to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC). This page provides information to owners or operators of mines that report under the Regulations and others, such as laboratories or consultants, who are interested in learning about reporting requirements.

The Single Window (SW) reporting system serves as the portal to many ECCC programs that collect regulatory information. The following 2 systems are accessible through SW:

The MERS allows owners and operators of mines subject to the Regulations to submit regulatory information. The MERS User Guide describes how to create an account and includes other useful information that will assist users in submitting regulatory information to ECCC.

The EEMER system collects regulatory information that are specifically related to biological monitoring studies conducted as part of the Environmental Effects Monitoring studies.

For details on how to submit regulatory information, see Mine Tip 2: Reporting Information.
