Multistakeholder Working Group on Road Salts
In Spring 2002, a Multistakeholder Working Group on Road Salts was established to advise Environment and Climate Change Canada on the effective management of road salts and help establish the Code of Practice.
The Working Group is Environment and Climate Change Canada’s key consultation forum for road salts where interested stakeholders can share knowledge and provide strategic advice on the effective management of road salts with the objective to ensure environmental protection while maintaining roadway safety. Working group members represent a wide range of stakeholder interests, including federal, provincial, territorial and municipal governments, environmental organizations, insurance companies and the salt industry.
The Working Group also has corresponding members who do not attend meetings, but receive copies of the minutes and all documents for comment.
