Scientists-at-Large
Biologists, chemists, ecologists, meteorologists, climatologists and physicists might be available to come to your venue to give a presentation. These scientists are hard at work fulfilling the mandate of protecting and conserving our natural environment. These experts know how to simplify their science to make it accessible. They also love answering your questions.
Wherever you are from coast to coast to coast, bring environmental science into your classroom or to your event with an engaging presentation by one of our scientists or experts. It can be done virtually, or in-person if a scientist is available in your region. The presentation is free under certain conditions (see below).
With scientists and experts working on and researching everything from:
- climate change
- pollution
- oceans
- wildlife
- biodiversity
- and so much more!
We have a speaker available for almost any environmental topic.
What you need to know
- Scientists and experts from Environment and Climate Canada (ECCC) study a variety of topics. Since they are working employees, some may be busy during the invited time and date.
- All of our scientists and experts are members of the Public Service and are bound by Environment and Climate Change Canada’s Values and Ethics Code, and as such, are not authorized to participate in fundraising campaigns, support charitable organizations or lend their names to sponsorship activities. Conflicts of interest guidelines prevent ECCC employees from receiving any fees, honorariums, or remuneration for public engagements.
- In rare instances, some urgent matter needing the scientist’s attention might require to cancel or reschedule a previously accepted presentation date. Should this occur, we will notify you as early as possible to find a solution.
- ECCC does not accept invitations from professional speakers’ bureaus or agencies, or events that are commercial or for profit in nature.
- If the presentation is given in person, ECCC will assume all travel costs. In-person presentations are not guaranteed and are dependent on where scientists are located.
- All publicity developed for the event, such as social media posts, must be approved by ECCC in advance of their release.
Please submit the invitation form at least one month in advance.
