Special Significance of the Species

Fragrant popcornflower is one of the more showy species in the borage family and is planted as a ground-covering annual, both in the U.S. and in Europe. The species has also been suggested for use with other herbaceous plants to control the spread of reed canary grass, Phalaris arundinacea, in wetlands (see http://tncweeds.ucdavis.edu/moredocs/phaarun01.pdf). The species is not known to have any traditional First Nations uses.
