Turkey Lakes tree harvesting impacts project: chapter 10
Forest Productivity
Net primary production (NPP) is a measure of net carbon assimilated per area over a certain time period. In this study we are investigating NPP recovery and reallocation as affected by the four harvest treatments.
Breakdown of NPP at Turkey Lakes Watershed:
Woody tissues (tree growth on permanent sample plots) | 21% |
Leaves, flowers, fruit, and bark (annual litter fall collection) | 34% |
Fine roots (studies of fine root production and turnover) | 45% |
