Ice forecasts

Canada is often called the land of ice and snow. It is fitting then that Environment Canada’s Canadian Ice Service (CIS) is the leading authority on information about ice in Canada’s navigable waters. Through its dedication to reliable and timely information about ice conditions, the CIS promotes safe and efficient maritime operations and helps protect Canada’s environment.

Analyses and forecasts of ice conditions, including daily charts and forecasts on ice hazards, seasonal outlooks, and ice models are available through the Canadian Ice Service. Warnings are also issued when particularly hazardous conditions are present, and iceberg charts and forecasts are available year-round for the East Coast.
