The Government of Canada invests $7.6 million to support communities, businesses and organizations in Northern Ontario to help create jobs, spur growth and support the tourism industry

Algoma–Manitoulin–Kapuskasing

City of Elliot Lake $63,000

Hire an intern to implement and support the community’s strategic planning and tourism efforts.

Plan and construct a multi-use waterfront development area to improve access to local tourism operators.

Launch Phase IV of the community’s downtown revitalization strategy.

Complete Class A engineered drawings, design development, construction plans, and Leadership Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) accreditation services for Regional Events Centre.

Nipissing–Timiskaming          

Discovery Routes Trails Organization $82,800

Implement the marketing strategy for the Voyageur Cycling Route in Northeastern Ontario.

Le Centre culturel ARTEM $7,200

Construction of a kiosk at Village Noël to highlight the importance of Aboriginal and Métis people in Temiskaming.

Parry Sound–Muskoka

Georgian Bay Biosphere Reserve $250,000

Expand the Georgian Bay Biosphere EcoAdventures Tourism experience.                      

Muskoka Chautauqua $31,500

Hire a youth intern to revitalize and position the historic village of Windemere as an international cultural hub in Muskoka.                      

Township of Armour $25,000

Establish the Almaguin Harvest Spin Project, a cycling event designed to enhance tourism in the region.

Sault Ste. Marie

Canoes for Conservation $65,667

Establish an ecotourism adventure that includes a tour on a large birch bark canoe highlighting Indigenous culture and the history on the Great Lakes.

Develop the Jane Goodall's Reasons for Hope IMAX Film and Skill-Share Program.

Hire a youth intern to develop, implement and evaluate strategies to increase the cinema's reach into various ethnic and cultural groups, particularly the Francophone community.

Thunder Bay–Rainy River

Purchase a custom-designed mobile event stage to create tourism opportunities throughout the Atikokan region.

Support Multicultural Tourism Growth throughout the Muskoka region.
