Canada and the International Civil Aviation Organization support safe, secure, and sustainable civil aviation for people around the world.

ICAO’s important work permits more than 100,000 daily flights to operate safely and reliably, and with 191 member states and other partners, ICAO serves as the premier forum for cooperation in all fields of civil aviation.

The Honourable Chrystia Freeland, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the Honourable Marc Garneau, Minister of Transport, today announced the appointment of Martial Pagé as Canada’s new Permanent Representative to ICAO, the United Nations’ specialized agency headquartered in Montreal.

Mr. Pagé’s appointment follows his distinguished career in public service, including, most recently, as Deputy Canadian Ambassador to Japan, Chargé d’affaires at the Canadian Embassy in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and before that Ambassador to Lebanon.
