The way forward
From responding effectively in times of crisis to delivering benefits to low-income Canadians to timely service from Service Canada, digital capacity underpins our ability to deliver on every priority and policy we implement.
We have shown that we can do this. The COVID-19 pandemic saw the government reacting in record time to the urgent needs of Canadians, Canadian businesses, and organizations. Like the private sector, we had to pivot and go digital virtually overnight. And we did it. Now is the time to seize this unprecedented momentum and make this exceptional way of working the norm.
The significant investments in digital transformation announced in Budget 2021 will support the work of digital government in modernizing our IT infrastructure, improving and defending our security networks, and, most importantly, delivering trusted and secure services to people across Canada.
This strategy brings together work already underway in this first iteration of our plan to do just that. It sets the foundation for a path forward to transforming Canadians’ experience with the Government of Canada and offering the level of service we have all come to expect in the digital age.
Like any agile process, we will be learning, and making changes as we go. Watch this space for updates on our progress going forward.
