Description of Program/initiative

Health Canada's (HC) Human Resources Services Directorate (HRSD) provides staffing services for HC and the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC).

HRSD has contracted VidCruiter, a Canadian company for the use of three new automated processes to track candidate applications, schedule and perform testing and conduct reference checks.

Why was a Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) completed?

The TBS Directive on Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) establishes the criteria for conducting a PIA.

HRSD' use of VidCruiter is a substantial modification to an existing program activity where personal information is used for an administrative purpose (e.g., the use of three new automated processes to track candidate applications, schedule and perform testing and conduct reference checks); therefore, initiating the requirement to conduct a PIA.

More Information

This PIA focused on Health Canada's collection, use, disclosure and retention and disposition of personal information involved in the hiring and staffing business processes.

The PIA recommended mitigation actions in the following risk areas: retention and safeguards.
