Digital Health Week - Week of November 12

Statement

It is Digital Health Week—a perfect opportunity to consider how digital technologies are transforming the delivery of health care across the country.

Digital technologies enhance health care delivery by allowing health care teams to share information more efficiently. The result is faster diagnoses and treatments. Digital technologies also enable patients to access their own health records, which means that they are better able to make informed decisions about their own health.

Innovation is a key pillar of the Government of Canada’s vision for a modern health care system. As Minister of Health, I am excited by the considerable potential for digital technologies to enhance patient care, improve health outcomes and reduce health inequities. Achieving these objectives means thinking creatively about the use of these technologies and working together to ensure that they are deployed strategically, throughout the health care system.

I would also like to acknowledge the considerable efforts of Canada Health Infoway and their partners to raise awareness about digital health and to promote innovation in our health care system.

Happy Digital Health Week!

The Honourable Ginette Petitpas Taylor, P.C., M.P.
Minister of Health
