Message from the Minister of Health – Family Doctor Week Week of November 12, 2018
Statement
During Family Doctor Week, I would like to encourage Canadians to join me in thanking our family doctors for all they do to keep us, and our families, healthy.
As primary caregivers, Canada’s family doctors support us through all stages of life, from conception through pregnancy, and from birth to death. Family doctors are vital to our country’s health care system, and this week is an opportunity to thank them for their tremendous contributions.
Now more than ever, family doctors play a critical role in supporting Canada’s aging population and our country’s increasing need for community-based care. Canadians expect their health care system to adapt to their changing needs, and family doctors make a tremendous contribution to that system. I am proud that our government supports the work of family doctors and continues to take a leadership role by making historic investments in health care, including funding to improve access to home and community care.
On behalf of the Government of Canada, I would like to thank family doctors for their compassion and dedication to patients.
Happy Family Doctor Week!
The Honourable Ginette Petitpas Taylor, P.C., M.P.
Minister of Health
