About this consultation
The Nutrition for Healthy Term Infants guidelines help health professionals give consistent information on feeding infants, by providing:
- evidence-based recommendations
- a foundation for parent and caregiver resources
As part of our revision process, we were seeking comments on the draft guidelines for infant nutrition from birth to 6 months of age. Our objective was to ensure the final guidelines are clear, complete, relevant and useful.
Nutrition for Healthy Term Infants is a joint statement of:
- Health Canada
- Dietitians of Canada
- Indigenous Services Canada
- the Canadian Paediatric Society
- the Public Health Agency of Canada
- Breastfeeding Committee for Canada
Who was the target of this consultation
We engaged with:
- health professionals
- First Nations, Inuit and Métis organizations
- provincial, territorial and municipal governments and policy makers
- health professional associations and non-governmental organisations
- other interested parties

Health Canada appreciated the feedback you provided with respect to the Nutrition for Healthy Term Infants guidelines.
Your feedback on the draft guidelines was sought regarding the clarity, completeness and relevance for health professionals and policy makers working in infant nutrition.
