This consultation is seeking comments on potential measures for standardizing tobacco packages and products under the Tobacco Act.

Why
One of the most effective ways of reducing lifetime tobacco use is to prevent its start at an early age. An important part of reducing the appeal of tobacco packages and products, particularly among young people, is to standardize their appearance.
Elements being considered include:
- use of a common:
- colour
- text size
- font style
- restrictions on the use of:
- logos
- trademarks
Who
The consultation is looking for comments from:
- the general public
- other interested parties, such as:
- partners
- stakeholders
- health professionals and associations
What
The purpose of this consultation is to gather comments on the measures being considered to standardize tobacco packages and products. This includes their:
- look
- size
- shape
When and where
The consultation will be available at canada.ca/Health between May 31 and August 31, 2016.
