Consultation: Proposed change to the veterinary omeprazole listing on the Prescription Drug List (PDL)

Health Canada is consulting Canadians on the proposal to allow certain veterinary drugs that contain omeprazole to be sold without a prescription. This consultation provides an opportunity to comment on a proposed change to the “omeprazole or its salts” listing on the veterinary use part of the Prescription Drug List (PDL). The proposal applies only to the veterinary listing.

This consultation is open for comment from May 13, 2026 to July 27, 2026 (75 calendar days). Please send your comments on this proposed change to the Prescription Drug List, preferably in electronic format, within 75 days from the date of this notice to:
