Consulting on ways to improve how we understand, prevent and manage pain in Canada
The Canadian Pain Task Force is seeking input from all Canadians to improve how we understand, prevent and manage pain in Canada. The input provided will be summarised in the Task Force’s report to Health Canada in Fall 2020. The Task Force is an advisory body established by Health Canada to help the department better understand and address the needs of Canadians living with pain. About the consultation
Who is the focus of the consultation
This consultation is open to all Canadians with thoughts and ideas on how to more effectively address pain in Canada including:
- People personally impacted by pain
- Family members and friends of people living with pain
- Health care professionals, service providers, support workers and caregivers
- Civil society and community groups working in areas related to pain, or social determinants of pain
- Pain researchers and academics
- Private industry and insurers
Key areas for discussion
The Canadian Pain Task Force is seeking input on challenges and opportunities across the following themes:
- Access to timely and appropriate pain care
- Awareness, education, and specialized training
- Pain research and related infrastructure
- Population health surveillance and health system quality improvement
