Consultation on the Revised Fee Proposal for Drugs and Medical Devices – closed consultation

This consultation ran from May 24, 2018 to June 14, 2018. Consultation feedback submitted by stakeholders is available by email request.
We are updating fees for human and veterinary drug and medical device regulatory programs to reflect current costs, following consultations conducted from October 2017 to January 2018.
Who was the focus of this consultation
We engaged with:
- Industry stakeholders, including: Medical Devices, Disinfectants, Generic Drugs, Innovator/Biological Drugs, Over-the-Counter (Non-prescription Drugs), Radiopharmaceutical Drugs and Veterinary Drugs
- Interested members of the public and consumers
Goals of the consultation
Stakeholders were invited to submit feedback on the Revised Fee Proposal for Drugs and Medical Devices, before the fees are finalised and implemented.
Key themes
Ideas and inputs were sought around 8 themes/topics:
- Fee setting
- Annual fee adjustment
- Mitigation measures
- Performance standards
- Penalty provision
- Timing of payment
- Specific fee line changes
The input that was gathered through this process will be used in a report summarising the feedback along with the response(s) from Health Canada and published on Health Canada's website in fall 2018.
What we heard
As part of the Feedback Process, the feedback submitted by stakeholders is publicly available. As part of this commitment, Health Canada is committed to openness and transparency and evidence-based decision making, and making more information available to Canadians than ever before. Since the Feedback Process has closed, Health Canada has published a list of all feedback submitted by stakeholders. The submissions listed are accessible to members of the public upon request, for the sole purpose of ensuring greater transparency.
