Notice of application received - maximum residue limit for fludioxonil for import purposes

Health Canada is reviewing an application under section 10 of the Pest Control Products Act from Syngenta Canada Inc. requesting to specify the maximum residue limits (MRL) for the pesticide fludioxonil on mango and Crop subgroup 9A: Melon imported into Canada.

This application is related to how fludioxonil is used in another country on mango and Crop subgroup 9A: Melon. Pesticide use on foods grown in Canada would not change as a result of this application. Therefore, exposure to workers in Canada (growers) and the environment will not change.

Next Steps

Once Health Canada scientists have reviewed the scientific information and confirmed that the health risk from eating imported food treated with fludioxonil meets Health Canada's requirements for protection of human health, the public will be consulted on the proposed MRLs.

A consultation notice will be posted on the Consultations page, inviting written comments on the proposed MRL decision within 75 calendar days. Health Canada will consider any comments received during the consultation before making a final science-based decision about the proposed MRLs.
